MeznG. In the air, on the road, river or sea again
Up at 5am to be ready to meet at 7am to be tendered ashore in San Juan Del Sur Nicaragua. We are in the meeting area and the ship has been anchored just outside the bay as there is no port hence the need for tenders. It is going to be a process as here there is only facilities for 1 tender at a time so patience is very necessary. We are doing a ship excursion today to Granada an historic city founded in 1524, Lake Nicaragua a massive freshwater lake and a boat cruise around Las Isletas, formed by volcanic activity of Mombacho volcano, it is an archipelago of 365 little islands in Lake Nicaragua. Sounds great!
Unfortunately it never happened. At 7:15am the captain announced that due to the conditions of the sea we were not going ashore in the interest of passenger safety. Once they reload the tender boats we would be departing for our next port of call being Cabo San Lucas in Mexico.
This now means we are 4 days at sea!
There is quite a swell and the boat is gently rolling and we can see the waves breaking on the rocks surrounding the bay. It's disappointing but as they were expecting the size of the swell to get bigger as the day progressed it was going to be too dangerous. You can't help but feel a bit sorry for the local traders, tour guides and businesses that were preparing themselves with a busy day in town. Such is Life.
We found out that yesterday some tours were cancelled because some parts of Costa Rica received massive down pours and the buses couldn't get through on the roads. We are luckily ahead of the rains. fingers crossed it stays that way.
I think we will get to see lots of movies and spend a bit of time sitting on our balcony over the next few days. Might even go to the afternoon trivia!
