MeznG. In the air, on the road, river or sea again
We have 2 full days of cruising now to get back to Fort Lauderdale. Awake around 7 Glenn is on the job to get to the laundry, it's the highlight of his day I think and he always comes back with a story or two. While the clothes are drying we both go to the gym and surprisingly there are available treadmills. It's quite nice walking on the treadmill and watching out the window at the rolling sea. On the morning TV show we find that Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton both won there whatever's in New York so that soap opera continues. It usually does come up in conversation at dinner especially when sitting with the Americans but we haven't found any Trump supporters as yet and most of these passengers don't want to know about it but see their options are very limited. After walking and retrieving the washing, we shower and head to breakfast followed by some deck time. The Peanuts movie is on the big screen. It's about 28 degrees today and when the sun comes out it is hot. It's amazing how much you can sweat when you are not moving. You might think that sea days are boring but it's amazing how quick they can pass. There is always something to do but it's also nice to do nothing. Glenn is catching up on his newspapers that he downloaded yesterday when onshore in Aruba. We went to a 'Navigation at Sea' information session given by one of the second officers and found out some facts about the ship and how they know where we are at all times. This ship, the Royal Princess has the capacity to carry 4250 passengers and 1350 staff, she is huge but very elegant. This voyage has just over 3500 passengers. Our path back to Fort Lauderdale is via the Caribbean Sea and we pass by Cuba and sometime early tomorrow we will be off the coast of Guantanamo Bay. There is always something happening somewhere on the ship. There's bingo where you can win a 7 day cruise, line dancing, ballroom dancing , bridge, mahjong, shopping, gambling in the casino and eating and drinking. It's formal night tonight, and while there are quite a few very well dressed couples, the majority take a bit more of a laid back approach to formal thankfully. Dinner tonight is with a retired couple who now live in Florida, d*** was a structural engineer and Paige was a teacher and a couple from Chicago who own and run a family restaurant that was built and started by Steve's grandparents. After dinner we see the show in the main theatre and then we go straight to the Vista lounge to watch the illusionist Jonathon Hawley do his magic show. We sit in the front row in the hope of discovering the secrets to his magic. No chance, even when his card tricks are done right in front of us it's impossible to work out the illusion. Tomorrow is our last day on this ship.
