Were going White water rafting today, get picked up and head to the mountains. On the way we stop at a small village where they do elephant trekking. A group of elephants pass us with a baby elephant. It has a chain around it's neck an foot. Really not a good sight.
We eat lunch before meeting up wih the other rafters. A chicken is scrounging for food and it comes for my feet, as it turns out "its not just insects and large animals that im scared of". There are too many of us for the vans so they ask the big English guys to ride on the roof of the landrover. It turns out we're the big English guys. it turns out to be one of the best journeys so far. We have such a laugh and the journey turns out to be around 4km on a dirt road.
We have our briefing and it all of a sudden gets very serious. Paul and Jordan volunteer to help with the briefing, more banter ensues. We start the rafting in the usual manner, load of splashing and fighting with other boats and our guide instantly joins in. He knows exactly what we're about and promptly tells us all to go for a swim. Later he keeps trying to throw us out of the boat, he tries me but fails, he then goes for Jordan but I decide to rugby tackle the guide and all 3 of end up in the water, I spot gaz and drag him overboard too.
We keep getting stuck on rocks but are working well as a team, really enjoying this and would love to do it again in the UK. The boat needs a few repairs half way through and by the end it's almost a wreck.
We get back to Chiangmai and decide to take it easy as it's been a tiring day and we have a really early start tomorrow.
