We all have breakfast after possibly the best nights sleep so far. The 3 young english guys join up with our group and we start trekking, it's uphill to start which really takes it out of everyone. We walk for a few hours walking past the new rice fields that the darmers have set on fire, it's really hot and the smoke and heat make it worse. Joes promise of a river can't come soon enough.
We stop for lunch in a village and Jordan swaps his stuff to a spare pack and gives his old pack to the locals, they almost have it mended before we leave.
We walk for another few hours throughtbthe jungle and countryside until we reach camp. It's much the same as the first night, the sleeping hut is slightly larger but the big difference is that the river runs right next to us. The river is also the bath but we do have a squat toilet, still no thanks.
We all go and wash in the river with Paul dropping his c*** out without a care whose there. So refreshing after a long day of trekking. I've probable lost and replaced 3 litres of fluid. We sit for dinner and it's the best meal I've had in Thailand so far, potato curry with loads of sticky rice.
After dinner joe returns with a surprise, we have a whole pig that we're cooking on the fire tonight. They burn off the hair then prepare the carcass in the river. While this is going on, JJ, the other guide starts preparing the bamboo spit. They create a rack and carve up the pig into smaller pieces, these are then sandwiched between pieces of bamboo and laid across the rack over the embers. After 2 hours the meat is cokes and it is carved up and passed around on plate, it's so tasty but a little fatty.
We stay up until around midnight chatting, eating and drinking before bed. Just after we go to bed the 2 vicky's on the mosquito net next to ours spot a scorpion on the inside, everyone freaks out any starts frantically checking their nets, an hour passes before most people calm down.
