The last day of trekking and were all getting quite close, at least to say that we've only been together for 2 days. It's mostly down hill today but my feet are getting so sore from the sandals. Jurek has done most of the trek barefoot but I don't think my feet could hold upto that.
We are heading for a place to swim but before long double disaster strikes. We're crossing a paddy field when at almost the same time Paul jumps down the bank and splits the second strap of his bag but before any of us notice gaz miscalculates and drops one leg into the paddy field. He pulls his foot out but leaves his shoe in the mud, his shoe is covered inside and out with stale mud and water. His face is such a picture.
We make it to the water after another hour of trekking and go for a nice swim, joe joins us in his Y-fronts and shows us where to jump in from. We all try to get photos when we jump but the lads keep missing mine, have to do it 3 times and the water is not really deep at about 5 feet. My legs are so sore from walking and jumping in.
After an hour or so we continue along the river bank heading back to the truck. We cross a bamboo bridge which is literally 2 large pieces of bamboo tied together laid across the river. Once we reach the truck there are too many in the group so 3 people will need to ride on the roof. Jurek, his wife and I get there first and climb onboard. The journey is only around 10 minutes but it's really exhilirating up there. On the way we pass elephants walking at the roadside.
When we stop it's our turn to see and ride the elephants
