Today was a lazy day..up just in time for a 10.30 breakfast. With so many museums and historical buildings to see we decided to ignore all of these and head to the cliff top suburb of Barranco. A very pleasant suburb to wander around although we couldn't work out why they had two statue?'s, one of John Wayne and one of Harry Potter, strange people these Peruvians...I refer you to the studio.
Lunch was once again the menu of the day, this consisted of a picnic egg surrounded by potato and covered in prawn cocktail sauce, rather nice actually followed by chicken stew with rice and potato and carrotts, a large slice of chocolate cake and a drink for 7 soles each, about one pound fifteen...Suitably stuffed we spent a couple of hrs at a shopping centre where Hayley bought nothing....yes you are reading this correctly, pink jeans were bought later in the evening...
I had a rather odd moment when I realised my younger days were definitely behind me by buying a pair of binoculars..I am aware this makes me sound like an anorak but would like to remind readers I do not have an anorak but a guinea pig jacket made by Hayley so all is not lost.
The evening was spent in a typically Peruvian style with 5 pints and 5 gin and tonics at the Old Pub followed by a Big Mac..after 18mths without a Big Mac we were both delighted by our dinner choice.
One last night in the worst hotel in Peru before our travels started for real with the next stop being Pisco.
