Hi... we have spent the last couple of days exploring Lima. We are staying in a really nice area called Miraflores. First stop, surprisingly enough, was shopping yesterday, ...hats scarves and coats. We read somewhere before we arrived that Lima should be around 70 degrees during the day.. However it is very cold and the sky is full of smog that blocks out any sunlight! Central Lima was on the cards for todays activities. Lima is similar to many large Cities with similar attractions. Both taxi rides that we took - we sat in silence. Of all the many areas visited before - i have never experienced anything quite like the driving here! you really do take your life into your hands.
I am very pleased to say that I have however found the place that I am considered normal! I knew that the world is a large place and therefore somewhere this would be the case. Everyone is of the averege size of 5 to 5.5ft tall. Matt is an absolute giant here! We went into a department store yesterday to try and get Matt a coat... even the XL size was tiny on him and barely covered down to his waist! so we may be looking at a Peruvian poncho for him!
Another bonus... things are very cheap. A manicure is 7 soles. There are 6 soles to the pound. The menu of the day (2 or 3 courses and a drink) ranges from 3.5 soles to 15. We bought some freshly baked cheese bread rolls today and they were 20cents. I think that really means that they are free to us.
We have another day in Lima and then we are off to Pisco to see the Sea Lions. I have been told that they smell a lot!
Thats all for now!
