Another late night. 11:51pm.
I just finished uploading photos. I have put only a couple on Facebook, the rest I save for the blog site.
I will be uploading videos also (not many), just need to jump on a computer to do that.
I woke up this morning to find Melanie reading outside. Showered, with a coffee, reading on the veranda. It's so relaxing sitting outside. The weather has been amazing. Kayleigh woke up next to me. We played for a bit before getting up. Janae was still asleep on her bed.
We all went to Oma's & Opa's for a big breakfast of bacon and eggs. I think we arrived around 9:30. Everyone was hungry and ready to eat. Dad cooked on the BBQ and I helped a little.
After breakfast we sat around talking, and playing with phones, before getting ready for the dunes. Melanie wanted to stay with the girls (she has already been out once before), so they took Oma back to our cabin for some quiet time (photos to come from Melanie).
After mounting Fred's camera to Dads car, we drove to Anna Bay, where there is a 4WD access point to the beach. You need a permit to drive on the dunes. A 3 day pass only costs $10.
Shane drove Dads car, and Fred drove his. This was the first time Fred's car has been of road! So we took it easy to start with. Drive on the beach for a little, then hit the dunes. Shane was still getting used to the feel on the dunes, and got stuck going up a steep hill. He was able to reverse out of it, but after 4 attempts, we drove back down to him.
It was at this point that Fred asked if I wanted to drive his car. Being automatic, I felt I should be able to handle it. I have driven Dads car on the beach before, but not sure about the dunes.
We continued on a bit more, then Shane got stuck, but this time was unable to reverse out.
Since I was driving Fred's car, I was the one that had to pull him out. That was an experience!
The dunes were amazing! I had great fun. The wind was a little strong at times, mainly at the top of large dunes. The sand stung your legs.
We changed drivers, Fred drove Dads car, and Shane drove Fred's. I think Fred had fun. Even though he got stuck going up his first hill.
After getting more confidant, Fred was taking on some big hills. At one stage we came down the other side of a dune, and didn't see the double dip on the other side. Let's just say that Shane said he saw all 4 wheels off the ground. Bumpy ride!
We spent a few hours out and didn't realise the time. We got back around 4ish, and hadn't had lunch. Apparently the girls saw a huge goanner outside our cabin. Melanie took pictures!
We all went for a swim then got out and had a few biscuit snacks before cooking hamburgers for dinner. Nothing better then homemade hamburgers!!
We watched a bit of Dads video from his camera and all called it a night, an early night. It was 8:30 and we were all stuffed!
We came back to the cabin, Kayleigh was asleep, but woke up after changing her. So we put on a movie (Red Dog) hoping that they would fall asleep. Well Melanie went to bed and crashed around half way through, the girls dropped off just before the end. Then I went to bed and started uploading photos.
It's now 12:23am. I wish I had a keyboard instead of this iPhone, then I would be able to type 3 times faster!!
Tomorrow we take Dads kayak out. If its not to windy....
