Shane and I woke up around 6 this morning to go finish. Dad helped us get the fishing gear and the kayak ready. Shane and I don't fish much, not much experience, so we were very interested in how this was going to turn out! Especially since we don't have much experience handling fish. I sat in the front, so Shane got to steer. He would also have to peddle for the both of us if we ran out of battery power lol
We went out across the creek and found dads spot that he told us about. We were using plastics, so no bait needed. Within a few casts, Shane had caught me!! I had my camera out, so I took a photo of the hook in my jumper. Its in the gallery. Shane is laughing in the background...I wasnt!
After trying there for awhile with no luck, we went further east and found our own spot. We looked at the top of the water and noticed a type of current happening, then saw fish jumping out of the water, so decided that would be the perfect spot (since we are such BIG experts on fishing). Well, something worked, because I caught a big flathead! around 30cm's long. That is big I think?! Big enough that Shane could barely get it in the boat. While it was hanging from the end of the rod the line broke and it got away :( So I tied a new hook on (thanks to Dads lessons), and I was back in business. We felt a few more bites, but got nothing else.
After 2.5 hours, we headed back in. Dad was keen on going back out, so I went with him. We didnt swap the battery over, so it went flat fairly quick. I showed him were I got that fish, but we didnt get anything! Dad caught a crab net....with the rudder of the kayak....and towed it across the creek, against the wind and water. He was peddling since the battery was flat. Fairly funny when we realised. It wasnt an easy task.
After getting back, we had some lunch and headed over to Oma and Opa's. They had arranged for all of us to go to The Great Moscow Circus!! I have seen Cirque Du Soleil, 2 different shows of it, but not this. This was a great show! If you havnt seen it, I really recommend it! I tried to take photo's, but my camera didnt work so well in that light. They had some skill, thats for sure. They put on some great acts, using dramatic lighting and music. It's great for all ages! It also went for a good length. 2 hours, with an interval in the middle. Janae loved it.
Fred, Maureen & Malcolm had to leave as they have work tomorrow (Monday), so we said our goodbyes, then went back to Oma & Opa's for pizza. We basically went back to the cabin and straight to bed after that. It was a long and busy day.
Tomorrow Dad takes Jessica to Sydney airport. I'm taking Shane and Rachel to Newcastle train station, so they can catch the train to Sydney Airport (they leave later then Jess)
