Donna woke up feeling much better today, the worst of the cold seems to have left her thankfully. I however woke up with what we think is a potential spider bite, or cluster of them really. The drive towards Yosemite was largely flat and dusty, kust what I'd hope to see in Steinbeck country! The journey was made decidedly better by discovering a homemade Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block CD in the CD player! The scenary got much nivery as we edged into Yosemite, lots of lovely green mountains to wind our way through until we reached the resort we were booked in to. At check in the girl caught sight of my 'knarley' spider bite and suggested a native american technique of rubbing tobacco on it. She also attempted to put Donna's mind at ease that in the 9 years she'd lived there she had never seen a bear ... attack. As we dumpex our bags in the tent cabin I'd booled us into, Donna was less than impressed at the lack of any heating or insulation, seeing as she has been cold for most of the trip! We then decided to do a small walk in the forest. It is a really beautiful place, especially with all the autumnal colours. It was a shame we were there at the wrong time for the waterfalls but it was an impressive place nonethless. I even got to stand half a meter away from a wild deer who didn't seem too bothered by our presence. An hours drive back to the resort, chasing the sun again, to avoid driving up to our tent cabin in the dark. We made up our beds - four layers of blankets plus the clothes we are going to sleep in!! And then head down to the lodge for dinner (oatmeal crusted troat with grits and veg - our sprouts for the year done!). There was a massive group of Japanese tourists, who were raping the WiFi which made it very hard to get any internet, very frustrating when trying to find out about Izzy in the Philippines. So we resolved ourselves to some wine and the fiddly diddly band that were playing and discussed how the $10 spa was very tempting as an activity for tomorrow and that we should perhaps stay an extra day and just bash out an 8 hour drive to Vegas rather than breaking it up. We resolved to see how Donna was feeling in the morning after a night in the tent. She may need to hit the desert sooner rather than later. We headed back up to the tent in the pitch black - Donna's torch came in handy. The townie then got very emotional at the night sky and just how many stars we could see. The day was finished off with a shooting star sighting before crawling under our layers of bedding.
