Just overlooking The Beagle Channel in sensible temperatures of 10% with a strong wind blowing. We went on our 6 hour catamaran cruise which was fantastic...dressed up in full winter layers and really enjoyed the trip. We headed towards the East towards the Atlantic. Something I hadn't really thought of is that it is daylight until after 10pm and light again by 5am, so our 'cruise' started at 3pm. We saw a penguin colony, albatross, black and white cormorants, seals and sealions, but the best was just sailing in the Beagle Channel at the bottom of the world!!! Photos will show what we saw.
Ushuaia is just a small village really, houses made from corregated tin, wood and sometines a bit of concrete. The houses are sometimes painteed, but are not pretty like those in Iceland....in fact they're quite ramshackled...so no photos. We had supper in town after our trip...mine was a bowl of pink crab and octopus in a spicey sauce yum yum. After sharing a giant beer we walked back to our hotel (a mile and a half uphill in the dark!)
Today we were picked up at 7.30am for our 6 hour National Park of Tierra Del Fuego trip. It was good fun, we were with an American guy, a young couple from Argentina, a Brazilian couple and a roaming retired English couple who've been in South America for 2 months so far! Saw lots of animals including their red fox who had a rabbit in it's mouth...also saw condors.
By the way, I'm reclining on a settee overlooking the beagle channel as I tyype this ...the views are stunning. We're going to eat in tonight, and hopefully watch the sunset from our panoramic position.
Today I decided I didn't like some of Darwin's thoughts...he came along the channel and saw the native indians who dressed only in a beaver skin cape and thong, decided they were the lowest form of human cos they lived in stick and wood shelters in the forests beside the channel, hd long arms and short legs. They lived on sealions and whales...he and his mates satrted to kill the sealions with guns, made the people wear second and clothes from England and then they died from deseases Darwin and other Europeans gave them....so much for his supposed theories of evolution eh?..oh and he wrote letters about them so the Christians came out to educate them...Pah!!
Tomoz we move off from Tierra Del Fiago to in the afternoon we're on a 4x4 expedition....excited again...just hope the weather holds so our flight can take off at 11am...the airport is about 5 mins away, and it's treated like catching a bus here.
12th
Hey how lucky we were here. Thismorning it is pouring with rain, we can see nothing at all from our windows....how miserable this beautiful place is when it rains!! Luckily we´re off by plane to Calafate where hopefully it will be nice enough to see something on our 4 wheel drive. Damian has just said that the end of the world really is the end of the world when it rains!

Alex What amazing colours. Is it really like that? Love the sound of all the sights and animals you see. Think I could do a holiday like this when I retire!! xx
Wallaces Were you drinking while you wrote that because your spelling got worse the further into the diatribe. Is it better than the Yorkshire Dales?
