Would you believe that Everton Chelsea football match is on live, with some crazy Argentinean commentator jumping up and down and shouting Gooooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal and ooohaaaaa .Certainly displaying passion!
So, will updates this before we go out for dinner, it's nearly 6pm here and 32 degrees so we're doing as the Argentineans do and hiding
Last night's visit to the Esquina Carlos Gardel theatre was wonderful. Carlos Gardel is the famous Tango Singer God and the theatre has been restored to as it was in the thirties. Mum, think Uncle Ernie had some of his music.... The musicians consisted of a pianist, double base player, viola player, a violinist, and three accordian players. It was in many ways like an old music hall performance with both male and female singers , dancers and orchestral performances. The dancers were superb, trained in Martha Graham Technique and were absolutely brilliant Tango Dancers.
As is the norm, our taxi arrived absolutely on time and consequently we were the first to arrive...gave us time to enjoy the refurbished theatre and the Tango dancers who were greeting the guests. The 3 course meal was delicious, the wine flowed freely all evening, and the show commenced at 10.00pm. We enjoyed the company of an Irish couple, a Turkish man, 2 Argentinians and an Italian couple on our table. Arrived back at the hotel around 12.30am having had a thoroughly enjoyable evening
Thismorning we went on an excursion to the Tigre Delta y Rio de la Plata area. We travelled by coach, train and boat which was an interesting experience. The guide claimed that the Rio de la Plata is the widest river mouth in the world at 240 km. It is the border between Uraguy and Argentina.
The area is inhabited but has no roads, a bit like Venice only in the countryside. It has some beautiful nuseries and produces most of the 'garden plants' for Buenos. If you fancy living there the houses are between £40.000 and £50.000 ...but you must have a boat!!!!
I learnt a new lesson today regarding hotel appliances....don't switch on the bottom washer tap whilst facing it....it squirts you in the face and knocks off your glasses!!!!!
Got to pack now, then go out to dinner, then fly down to Ushuaia. Tomorrow afternoon we're going on a catamaran on the Beagle Channel. Actually I can't wait to get out of this heat!! ...more tomorrow or the day after
Hi guys,
Just returned from restuarant visit...once again feasted for under £20.00 including a bottle of winfe and came away with 2 free bottles...I am of course completely tiddly and am contemplating becoming an Argentiean Wine importer.
Enid and Lindy...where were you when I needed you???? Stumbled into an indoor shopping mall full of designer shops this evening...and there were 50% off summer sales on. Graham Hazey, I went into Hugo Boss for you but I think that the shirts were more expensive than in England. What size are you? and how much do you pay in England? We have a whole day here before we return to England on 28th Feb so put in your orders!!!! Loads of Havianna flip flops cheaper than in Brazil cos of the exchange rate...any of you want any just tell me european size and colour and we'll get them on our return. Really must go, heading down to the tip of S. America now with 4 bottles of wine and our bags!x x

annette Great to see how holiday is progressing. Fantastic photos. School closed today so have time to view all. Houses for 40 000 looked great. I could live on the river with a boat...Steves comment..there're pirhanas in the river...oh well it was a thought. We have tons of snow..just our little neck of the world. I did two great skids yesterday...they don't believe in spending on grit here...so i'm pleased they closed the school today. Looking forward to hearing your next account. Keep your toes out of the water! love xxx
