Argentinian Iguazu
Happy Birthday Mum. This is the second time i've written this cos the signal here went down and I lost all that I'd typed.
Here I go , fingers and toes crossed that I'll finish this time.
Today started well, the telephone alarm call at 6.45am, I was on schedule, stumbling out of the shower at 7.10am when a familiar tune came from my so called 'dead phone' from it's dark hiding place in the safe. Well, I thought it was switched off and dead..of course by the time I got to it it was! 10 minutes later it performed again, this time I hit every button I could see, and it stopped, switched itself off, but not before it displayed a message saying that it was out of battery and about to close..Huh.
Usual routine followed, breakfast, taxi, guide. This time we spent the morning in the Argentinian Iguasu Falls National Park. We walked 6Km according to our guide, and spotted several toucans, some racoons,a giant fruit eating lizard, and some bright yellow and black birds, lots of spiders and so many beautiful butterflies. There are apparently more than 800 species in this area. At lunch time we sheltered from the heat of the day in the Sheriton Hotel overlooking the falls. We're back at our hotel now to enjoy the tropical garden, swimming pool and a glass or 2 of freshly squeezed lemon and lime.
You will see from the endless photos that even though we'd seen these falls yeaterday...today was even more spectacular than yesterday. A whole rift valley cascadinginto the fault ...woweee...out of this world or what?
Stevie Lake, this place will be great for your backpacking in South America. The bus station is hre, lots of good looking hostels, plenty of cafes and lots of local buses going to the falls in Argentina and Brazil. The bus to Rio takes 24 hours and has proper bed seats, price is 90 dollars and includes 3 meals en route. The bus to Buenos takes 17 hours and includes 2 meals...good info eh???? From our backpacker friends who have just left for the carnival in Rio!!!
Getting hot, going for a dip now
Tomoz we leave here on the 2.30pm plane for Buenos...so adios amigos

Geoff Hey Sis ...... you sure have got the hang of this reporting game from behind the lines! I bet Damian looks forward to transmission time .... a peaceful hour on his own chatting to a cold beer or two! Sat with Mum this afternoon and did the photo tour of Rio and the Iguazu falls ..... AMAZING and looks like I may have to re think my 'must do' list. And I do like the part where you spend a tough sweaty morning in the tough terrain and spider infested National park ... but luckily come across a Sheriton Hotel for lunch ... now that Guide is good! Take care and don't worry .... I'm still paying my taxes to keep you going! Geoff xx
Alex Some great photos my friend, a whole new world! Life has been quite manic lately but I think this week things will quieten down into routine. I have finished my course and handed in my Portfolio work, 3 cheers!! I should have time to keep a closer eye on what you are up to. Fresh lemon & lime followed by a dip - heaven. Love to you both. Alex xxx

I couldnt bear you feeling guilty. Pete by the way is missing his playmate .... Love to you both Lindy X PS The Hayes biography is well into its 10th volume. I am sure there will be plenty to add to this weighty tome.
