Cerro Otto Walk
Phew, pen ultimate comments!
We made the mountain in the gondola...circa 1930's Austrian beautifully preserved gondalas..the sort the men have to push to start you off and by the way they lock you in from the outside using the highly polished brass slip locks..thankfully the thing didn't stop or break cos there would have been no escape!!1 guess what we found at the top...a revolving restuarant..all wooden and Austrian style on the inside..even sold balck forest gateaux type cakes...we didn't succome!! We spent 40 mins having a drink...or 2 revolutions of the spinning cafe. it was a 60s monstrousity from the outside..oh and on the mountain top there were 2 fenicular raiway carriages..also Austrian of the same era....they ran over a short distance to take families up and down the sledging slope. This resort is mostly x country, snow shoe walking and 2 downhill runs. You can hire full gear including clothing and boots for £4.00 a day in winter. Hmmmm.
Had a swim, walk in the mountains and a meal tonight. Found the best ever bottle of wine, a Melbec 2009, Postales Bodega del Fin Del Mundo - Roble ..better than Saint Emillion I think.
Liah, had the best coffee ever today cos my Argentinian Spanish got confused...cold coffee with vanilla ice cream floating/sinking in it, with dark chocolate chips and teeney weeney almond biscuits...yum yum...good job we went mountain walking!!!
That's it, adios, buenos notches and choa..or words to that effect
x
Todays thoughts are to say that only the tourist guides speak English in Argentina...and there is usually one translated English menu available...last night chose Fat Pillows of Ricotta with Floating Wild Mushrooms' alias ricotta raviola with mushroom sauce! I have in Buenos rejected the idea of eating Śtern Palm Heat Salad' or ´Exagerated chicken' .
Found out that senior teachers here earn the equivalent of 60 pounds a month...that does explain why we are able to live an indulgent life here!!!
Packed our bags and are going to go wander about by the lake for an hour before our transport arrives for the airport.
