Well howdy everyone. I hope Christmas and New Year was great for everybody and brought plenty of festive cheer to you and your loved ones.
Christmas here was very good fun, though obviously very unlike the Christmas we have at home - except for the silly hats, which were actually carried by my Mum and my Dad (except he didn't give his load to Juli until after Christmas...oops!) all the way across the world.
The morning started quite early. I stayed over at Mark and Juli's house so I could wake up with everyone else, though I didn't plan to get up quite as early as I did. Paul and I wished each other a very sleepy "Merry Christmas" at 5.30am in Nathan's room, when we were both were awoken by his squeals (he was obviously very excited about Santa!) Luckily we managed to get back to sleep.
After a lovely breakfast of croissants and jam with Buckfizz we opened our presents and I was very pleasantly surprised by my gifts from Paul and Mark. Paul got me an Australia towel and cap and Marky got me an IPod accessory which enables me to tune my IPod into any radio though an ITrip....very cool. He didn't know what else to get me mind (more like he didn't have the time!) so I now have 30 bucks (I'm down with the Ozzie lingo!) to get something else....probably a haircut!
All of Juli's family and some friends came over to join us for lunch, which we ate on long tables in the lounge. There were 26 of us in all, each wearing silly hats! On the menu were lots of different salads, potatoes, cold meats, seafood and pickles and things. It was yummy, though very different from back home. After we all went outside to sit in the 'back yard' and played games (obviously I was on the winning team!), drunk and chatted. It was a great day.
On Boxing day we all went to Juli's Mum's place for lunch then after the Evans' and Drakes went to the races (to Ascot!), which was a really good day. Even though I didn't do much winning, I still won enough to go home having spent only 15pound for the whole day, drinks, bets and all.
New Year's was a little quieter to what I am used to, (I guess it was bound to be with babies in tow!) though the highlight of my night was definitely seeing my Dad do karaoke. He initially was a little too shy to do so, and instead thought he would be better at keeping the beat by planning the well known instrument the 'spoons', however with a little coaxing he was well away singing 'Under the Boardwalk' and making up the bits he couldn't see on the screen. He scored about 73 / 100 which wasn't bad for a first attempt. Mark and I were planning to do our own version of MC Hammer, You Can't Touch This, with dancing thrown in, but we thought we would show every one else up and they would be jealous of us, so we refrained!
I made my trip back to the doctors and it turned out I didn't have a spider bite. Seemingly she thought it was some sort of body lice or even scabies, so I had to use a cream to clear it up.....yuk! I think I preferred the spider bite!
Anyway. I know I have been a little slack keeping up to date with the postcards - Georgia and Nathan have been demanding (yeh right!) my attention - but I'll try to keep up with it from now on.
Love you all loads
