Hi all,
Happy Australia Day to everyone - especially if you are Aussie - for yesterday.....what a great day it was.
After dropping Georgia off at her Nana's house for a sleep over, Juli, Mark and I went into Perth on the train, carrying our tinnies and a 2 ltr box of wine.
The train was amazingly packed and so many people had gone to town with their outfits it was really nice to see. Children had sparkly hats with the Aussie flag on, loads of people had Aussie flag tattoos on their faces/arms, many were wrapped in their flag and nearly everyone was dressed in either blue red and white or yellow and green (Aussie's what is the yellow and green about anyway!?!) Everyone was smiling, the weather was great and there were many, many chants of "Aussie, Aussie, Aussie. Oi,oi,oi" about! (Again, why don't we celebrate St George's Day?)
We made it down to the foreshore, which is an area in Perth City next to the river, very beautiful. We made ourselves comfortable on the grass beside the road, along with thousands of others and drank the afternoon and evening away, whilst watching the displays that had been laid on, such as the fighter pilots, and helicopters. At 8pm the evening finished with a bang as Perth Skyworks put on an amazing fireworks display - I think I have about 50 pictures of just fireworks...yawn!
By this time Jel and his friend had joined us, so we made our way to a chinese restaurant in Northbridge. We gorged ourselves on food, which was lovely until I ate a nut and then threw my guts up in the toilet. At least everyone else enjoyed it and looking on the brightside I didn't have a hangover the next day!
All in all though, even with the throwing up I had a lovely time and would definately be up for celebrating Australia Day again.
Off to Lancelon today. Next time I write I'll be a surfer dudette!
