Day 93- Packing was made slightly more difficult with hangovers but we managed and took off in a rush to catch our bus. Just as we pulled out of Brisbane it started to rain- heavily. We were lucky but at the same time we were worried in case it met us in Surfers. Once we arrived the rain had stopped- for now, and we walked the short distance to the hostel. We were upgraded to a 3 bed dorm which was nice and after putting a much needed wash on we headed out in search of cheap Wet 'n' Wild tickets. Wet 'n' Wild is one of the many theme parks on the Gold Coast, this particular one being a water park. We managed to find some for $46 (£30) we still thought it was a little pricey but better than the $69 we were originally quoted. That night we met Amy and Ian for drinks, we went to a bar on infamous Surfers paradise boulevard then onto an Irish bar on the front. We got chatting about Wet 'n' Wild and whether it was worth going as they had went the day before, they said it was and we found out they purchased the 1 month unlimited pass as they went to three of the parks. So we asked to rent them and although it had a small black and white of them on the back decided to risk it and try them. If it worked we saved ourselves $100 and if not we would have to buy them at the door- no real loss. We had a great night and good catch up as it had been a while since we seen them and ended it with a chocolate sundae from Hungry Jacks for the way home.
Day 94- Relief! After getting the extremely overcrowded bus from Surfers to WnW we tried our luck with the tickets and got through without them even looking at the pictures. It would have been awkward if they had checked the photos as since Amy has blonde hair, Eve had the wise idea of colouring in the hair with a pencil- which was very noticeable and even shone in the light. So we escaped that disaster and once through rented a locker to store our stuff. The first ride was the Aqualoop. By far the scariest of the park. Eve was hesitant as we heard of people getting stuck in the middle and having to climb out but a bit of encouragement got her up. You stood upright in a rocket shaped container and then there was a countdown...3...2...1...DROP! We plummeted through the bottom of the rocket as the floor disappeared beneath our feet and we were sent hurtling down a kamikaze shoot, then upwards in a loop-the-loop with water now coming from all directions, we span down the shoot and came flying out the other end. This marked the start of a very wet and wild day! The majority of water was coming from the sky and not the slides as it started to rain. It continued to rain solidly for about 3 hours and then on and off for the remainder of the day. Luckily it didn't bother us but did make things a bit chilly. It did feel very weird running round a theme park in just our swimming shorts and bikini with no shoe's on but we just went with it. Next ride was the Kamikaze- different to the one we know from home- it was a large wide half-pipe slide where you sit in a two person ring and get pushed into it and go back and forth until you come to a halt. This was great fun and we both had a laugh at each others faces as we went backwards. The Black hole was next where you sit in a 4 person ring and go down a steep slide and swirl around a funnel coming out of a big hole at the bottom, quickly followed by the Tornado. After all the excitement and relentless queueing we stopped for lunch and brought out our pasta. Just as it managed to digest we then went onto Mammoth Falls and The Constrictor which were both double rings which sent you down slower bigger rides- just as fun though. Finally we headed to the Aquaracer where you lay on a foam mat and went head first down a long bumpy slide. It was 8-way race and Eve managed to find herself in first position after I performed some excellent defending from the other competitors and fought my way to second. Then as it was time to go I had another go at the Aqualoop and Eve got herself out of it by getting the bags ready. Eve was very glad she passed on it as on my turn- there are four that run together, one guy got stuck, fell to the bottom of the loop and had to climb out of the trap door. After a fantastic day we caught the bus back to Surfers and had a nice relaxing night and did a bit of research.
