Day 74 Michael left for work at 6:30am so we said our goodbyes and had a few more hours on the sofa. Once up and packed we headed for the greyhound bus. The greyhound bus-stop was about a 40 min walk, we had our massive bags and it was extremely hot so we decided to get the public bus, we checked Google and it came at 11:38am, as we were walking to the bus stop at 11:29am we saw one drive past so thought they must come every 10 mins. We checked the timetable and no the hourly bus had turned up 10 mins early and we had missed it! Australia's public transport is either non existent or an absolute joke, we are still in shock at how completely un-tourist friendly this country is! We didn't have time to walk by this point so had to flag down a taxi, luckily it wasn't too expensive only about $3 more than the over priced bus would have been. Once on our Greyhound bus we were on our way to Airlie beach. We checked in to the Beaches hostel and whilst eating our left over chicken curry and rice we saw Amy and Ian. We arranged to catch up with them in the bar a bit later. We got some supplies in from the supermarket and made a large batch of sausage pasta for the next few days.We met Amy and Ian at the bar and we got some jugs whilst happy hour was on, there was some great live music on so we stayed in the hostel bar. We headed for a pizza at Dominos as it was cheap Tuesday and then went back to the bar. We stayed till closing and walked along to another bar with some more live music and had another drink before turning in just after 2am.
Day 75 After our 'wild' night out we had a lie-in till about 10am, the room had massive French doors and the light was flooding in. After breakfast we headed down to the Peter Pan travel agents where we had booked all our tours to use their free internet and confirm our Whitsundays trip. We had some of our lovely pre-made sausage pasta for lunch then headed down to the man made lagoon to meet Amy and Ian. The lagoon was beautiful with a sand beach and palm trees, sounds mad when your so close to the beach but the water isn't salty and there are no jelly fish so its much better. Lloyd and Ian disappeared for about 2 hours on a long swim, when me and Amy sat up to find them we caught a glance of them getting told off by the lifeguards for diving in the pool - typical! We headed back to hostel and the bar offers an amazing $6.50 dinner and drink deal to house guests so we ended up getting t-bone steaks for tea and we finished our evening with a 30 cent McDonald's Ice-cream and a walk along the esplanade before bed.
Day 76 We checked in for our sailing trip in the morning and were given small bags to carry any luggage we wanted to take. We packed our little bags with everything we wanted for the next 3 days. it was lovely outside so we headed to the lagoon for some sunbathing. Amy and Ian passed and said good bye as they were on the way to there sailing trip. After a few hours baking in the sun we took our big rucksacks to Peter Pan travel agents and had our tea aiming for an early night. We were just finishing our meal when we were reminded of the weekly scavenger hunt, an opportunity we could not miss out on! We went to sign up and realised the only other people actually taking part were the 2 Israeli lads from our room. We decided at this point to work together and split the prize so after a little running about and lots of silly photo taking the 4 of us were presented with a $50 bar tab - early night vanished! It was 7:50pm which meant it was still happy hour so we got 3 jugs of beer and 2 jugs of cider! They knew a few people in the bar they had been travelling with so we sat with them and all got chatting. We played a few games of 'spoons' (a drinking game) and once they decided to move on we headed to bed, ready for the next day!
