Day 69 - We checked out early as we were moving hostels. We had read about a lovely hostel where you could camp called Jackaroo which would make it a lot cheaper for us. We walked up to the bus stop we arrived at the day before and the owner took us to the hostel. We were over the moon when we arrived, the hostel was like a tree house just on the outskirts of the rainforest, it was beautiful. Jackaroo had only been open 4 months so everything was new. Even though we were camping we got full use of all the facilities so we headed straight for the pool. We got talking to a lovely English couple called Amy and Ian. We all decided to go on the hostel wildlife tour. We had been on one the day before with the other hostel but we really wanted to see a Cassowary. The tour was pretty much the same, lots of Wallabies no Cassowaries. We got back to the hostel, made some lunch, sunbathed some more and had some intense games of ping pong - it's a hard life. After a trip to the supermarket we made our infamous sausage and veggie pasta and sat with Amy and Ian till late.
Day 70 -We woke at 6:30am by the unbearable heat in our tent. It was suffocatingly hot, we opened the tent door and stuck our heads out trying to sleep a bit longer, then some builders started doing some work on the building next to us and finally admitted defeat so we headed up to the tree house for breakfast. We got dressed and jumped on the hostel shuttle bus to the beach, it was hot! The beach was lovely and pretty much empty. We sunbathed for a while before walking along to the stinger enclosure (the sea is full of deadly jellyfish between November and February so beaches have special nets where you can swim that attempt to keep the jellyfish out) After a swim we had a long walk up the beach and managed to find a beach bar called Bernie's so we just had to stop for a drink. We jumped on the hostel shuttle bus to the super market and stumbled upon some reduced sweet chilli pork chops and we just couldn't resist. Back at the hostel Lloyd started up the BBQ and used his man skills to cook the chops whilst I made noodles and poured the wine we also gave in to. Sitting in our rainforst tree house sipping wine was like paradise.
