The walk this morning started out from Begur, a beautiful village with an important fort to protect against pirates that was supposedly destroyed by the French in 1800s. We hiked to top with spectacular views . You could see to where the Pyrenees dive into the sea where Cadaques is, home of Dali. We then hiked through gorgeous pine forests with spectacular butterflies and also "Holm oaks"
Jane: I took lots of pictures of butterflies, bees and flowers. The hike was beautiful, but we were definitely running late. After a bit, we finally got to pals where we're eating lunch.
Julie: another lovely day of hiking! There have been minimal sibling disputes and all are in good spirits. We went up to the castle ruins in Begur which afforded a 360 degree view of the surroundings. There was a map up there which identified the coastal towns in the panorama, so we could see how far we had walked since the beginning of our trip. This hiking is highly civilized with fantastic dining opportunities along the route. Today's lunch in Pals: Catalonian sausage and white beans, roasted peppers with goat cheese and dried fruits, rice casserole with shellfish and meat. Now we will walk into font Clara (another 2 hours) to the rural farmhouse where we will stay for the night.
