Today I headed down the coast to the GOLDOC offices (GOLDOC are the Gold Coast Organising Committee - ie the Games Partner who actually organises the Games) for the Executive Steering Committee meeting. Their offices have a race track as the front pathway down to the main entranced down to the offices with flags with the games mascot borobi on - really creates an exciting atmosphere & makes it all feel a bit more real!

Once we were back in Brisbane it was time for the Estimates Celebration. The Estimates are a cross between the Budget and Spending Review - it's where the Director General (ie the Perm Sec) & the Deputy Directors are scrutinised by Parliament regarding their spending plans. It all went well & the Department received a good settlement so the Directors had organised a drinks reception to thank everyone for their hard work. Although not involved I was happy to help with the celebrations!!!

Ps I also discovered the bar opposite work sells glasses of champagne for $5 before 8pm!! How has it taken me this long to find that out??!!
