It's been another busy week.
As Program Manager I've been drafting the Functional Area Management Plan, a document describing how the Commonwealth Games Embracing 2018 Legacy Program will be managed and governed by the Games Benefits Directorate. It basically gives the Minister Assurance that we have plans in place to run projects and deliver legacy benefits as a result of hosting the games & includes terms of reference for the governance groups, a project plan, benefit realisation plan etc
I've also prepared briefings for the Minister who decided to call into the Olympic park while he's in London this wk & needed some 'talking points'. he's also gone to meet some banks & treasury folk to find out more about the impact of the referendum (I'm hoping he can find a way to prop up the price of the pound against the dollar! Though i resisted suggesting that in his briefing)
It's the general election tomorrow so that's been a topic of discussion at work, it could go either way according to the polls. The impact of the EU referendum is also a topic of conversation, like me everyone was surprised by the outcome & wondering what's next for the UK?
Outside of work once been flat hunting. I saw some just off Caxton street. They were nice flats but the walk to & from work would have just been along busy main roads, not particularly scenic and the pool was quite small (first world problems!). I saw one just next to where I am now, it had amazing views but inside it was all very peach, not sure it had been decorated since the 1980s!!
In the end I've opted for a flat on kangaroo point (you can't get more Aussie than that!) it seemed a nice area, the gym was a bit small but the pool was great, and the flat was nice and neutral, and you can just seen the story bridge poking out from the trees
Other than flat hunting & becoming addicted to Australian masterchef (the only thing worth watching) I've not been up to much else in the evenings. I did go for a couple of drinks with some people from work last night for a colleagues leaving do so I'm starting to get to know my team. I left work around 4.30 this eve (and I was one of the last to leave!) and walked home through the botanical gardens which was a nice end to the week
