I arrived into Brisbane just before 9. Getting out the airport was all very quick - no queuing for passport control, immigration, baggage or taxis - I was sorted and on my way all before 9.30
I arrived at my serviced apartment just before 10 and despite being 4 hours early they allowed me to check in straight away.
I'm staying in a serviced apartment - a cross between a hotel and apartment so it has full kitchen (inc dishwasher, washing machine) & separate bedroom but towels, linen, regular cleaning is included & no hassle setting up wifi & bills etc. The kitchen also means I can cook instead of eating out. I won't be able to stay here long but will be nice while I decide where to live and whether to live on my own or in a flat share
And it is nice, I'm on the floor & can see the river between the buildings.
After a shower I headed towards the town centre, little more than a 5 minute walk really. There were lots of shops - even a Zara & h&m (perhaps I didn't need to buy so many shoes before I left?). Another 5 minutes or so and I was on George street, and 5 minutes more I had found my office. Next I walked back to queen street to pick up my atm card from the bank then it was to the Apple Store to try get my new watch to pair with my phone. After failing (& sending watch off to be factory reset) I headed to the river at eagle pier (which is what I can see from my apartment). There are several coffee shops, bars & restaurants. It was 3pm Brisbane time, no idea what time in the UK or China but I hadn't eaten in a while so thought I'd order pizza (I'll cook tomorrow....) & a glass of bubbles to celebrate my new life
