I headed out about 11.30. I'd decided to do a couple of the city walks from my guidebook, but first I needed breakfast!
After a coffee & plate of avo & poached eggs on toast at the cafe next to the building I walked down to the river (just a minute or so's walk from my building).
I walked down to the botanical gardens, sticking to the riverside path rather than cutting through them. There were lots of mangrove trees on the bank of the river. I crossed a bridge over to the south bank where there was more gardens, BBQ & picnic areas, bars, restaurants & a man made beach & lagoon pool. It was a bit of a grey day, still warm by british standards but it all looked a bit miserable in my photos - but it wasn't, least I wasn't! I sat for a bit taking it all in, still seems a bit surreal to be here!!
I walked on, saw a couple of interesting looking but apparently harmless spiders in the trees/bushes by the river, and saw a fish nibbling a coconut that was floating on the river too. Crossing back over the river I walked along George street past my new office again & other government buildings. I had another wander round the shops, buying some toiletries & food then came home to have dinner, read the papers & swot up on Aussie politics ahead of starting work on Monday
