After our disasterous time at Sierra de la Ventana, we were pleased to arrive at the train station where our overnight train was waiting to whisk us back to Buenos Aires. The train station was very old and hideous and full of old junkie tramps. We arrived 2 hours early for the train, so we got on anyway since it was already at the platform. The whole place smelled of wee and there was grafitti everywhere. Nobody liked it.
We settled down into our seats, which weren't attached to the floor. The train eventually filled up and we set off. The lights were on for the whole night and it was very very cold for the whole journey, even though we had a blankets with us. We kept waking up at horrible times in the morning and our bodies were aching as we pulled into our destination not a moment too soon.
We walked back to the street our previous hotel had been on, but decided to check out another hotel, which was much nicer and had TV and heating. Needless to say we made the most of our new found comfort and caught up with a few old friends from the 90s courtesy of cable. Many snacks were consumed during these TV marathons (we probably enabled the Chinese supermarket owner to put his children through college).
Lisa decided to get her hair cut in Buenos Aires as there was more likely to be a spot of profeciency compared to rough counrty folk. Her hairdresser spoke english and professed a little too strongly that he was not gay...hmmm. He tried to give Lisa a lovely style that suited her face but she continued Barking "shorter" until she had the famous ANN style. Charlie proffited by waiting as he consumed an entire bowl of sweets and a coffee.
One day we went on a long walk around a horrible old park on the edge of Buenos Aires, but a scary old American granjad tried to talk to us and told us to email him when we got home, so we ran away. We also managed to get very wet on the walk and scared everyone that saw us.
One day in the room Lisa folded her pyjamas up neatly on Charlie's bed. Charlie threw them back to her, only for them to land in a yoghurty bowl of cereal. This led to pyjama washing and them being put to dry on the heater. When done, Charlie threw them back to Lisa again, this time they knocked a glass of red wine off the bedside table, and got covered in it. They had to be washed once more that day, and then Charlie wasn't allowed to touch them anymore.
The fan game also returned in this hotel. This time, an entire toilet roll was thrown at the moving blades which somehow got wrapped around the mechanism of the fan and then unraveled all the way, the fan acting as a giant looming machine which braided the toilet roll and made it into incredibly strong cord. Unfortunately a shoe lace also got braided into the toilet roll.
Final thoughts: Much better this time since we had a TV and a heater.
Mark out of 10 = 7
Next time? Mendoza.
