I woke up at horrible clock in the morning to catch the Disney cruise liner bus with my fellow crew. When I first saw the ship, I couldnt believe the size. After going through customs I finally set foot on the ship for the first time, exciting but overwhelming.
We all had to go through training so we spent alot of time in the training room and then had a tour of the ship, amazing. Everyting is luxury with the added fun of Disney Characters. I was assigned my cabin and pleasently surprised. It does not have windows and you may find it difficult to swing a cat without hurting him, but is my new home.I am sharing with a Korean girl who seems really nice, on the second night she said she was my big sister and continued to clean the cabin. After asking a few time if she wanted help, she told me to go and have fun, so I did just that:)
The ship is very overwhelming for the shear size and amount of people onboard. Its roughly 1500 staff members and 4000 Guests. The first day I had a little wha to myself as I kept getting lost, all the crew are friendly.I have a red sticker on my name badge to say ' I am earning my ears', I keep that for the first two weeks. Its like a get out of jail card as everyone knows your new.I think that I might keep it for the entire trip.Oooh I can fly back home from any major airport in the USA, so thinking New York if anyone would like to join me.
We had safety training which was quite dauting as the siren goes off, so you run to your room, grab you life jacket and then make your way to the assembly point. I found mine alright but got lost on the way back!heheI have been on 3 days now and still getting lost, but slowly getting there. I know where to find my work, cabin, crew mess, shop and the BAR! We also have a deck on deck 14 so last night there was a party, so pulled out a few of my moves! hehe Food is alright, I can survive on bread and chips with the odd piece of fruit thrown into the diet, so Im happy. Beers are a $1 so no complaints there.
The staff in my department seem really friendly, although they work hard. Its crazy the amount of information you need to know.I need to know the entire ship and apparently the guests are demanding, so should have some interesting tales. The first one that made me laugh was a little boy had stolen his parents swipe card and managed to spend $500 in an hour on arcade games!hehe I have my outfit, look like something out of Harry Potter, its not too bad and I have managed to cover up my tattoos.Oooh another bonus is I get guest priveleges so I can use the guests facilities too.For example I have already been to see two plays, amazing productions and had dinner outside on deck 14.Its also exciting as you get to meet the characters when your down stairs, I still get excited as they stay in character. I have met tinkerbell, Princess tatiana, Minnie and Mickey mouse. An old crew member was laughing at me and my friend as we got so excited.I am hanging out with some English girls and American at the moment as we are all training together, Alexis is my new dancing buddie.
At the moment I am training in reception so I will keep you updated. Its strange getting trained again, usually it is me thats doing the training.
