Today we caught the ferry from Santorini to Ios it was only 40 minutes which was so quick compared to my 20 hour ferry! It feels very normal to be on a boat now after all my ferries and sail turkey but poor Claire gets quite bad motion sickness so she wasn't doing too well.
When we got in there was a guy holding a Francesco's( where we were staying) sign and about 40 people going towards him haha. We had to get two mini buses, a mini van and 6 of us girls got in Francesco's ute. He is so nice and friendly it is easy to see why his hostel/hotel is so incredibly popular.
When we got there we got in our room which was in the main building and decided to hire a quad and go out and find a beach. We walked down to the main square and the two places we went to were all booked out so we decided to catch the bus- earlier we couldnt work out why there were so many people at the bus stop but now we understood. I got a banana nutella and peanut butter crepe while we waited which was out of this world!!
We went to the next beach over from the town and clearly got off a stop too early as far out (the day time party and resort place) was at the other end of the beach. Our end was much more low key but nice.
Getting into the water here is a bit of an adventure. It's sand sand then as soon as you put your foot on the water it's slimy rock. I basically have to crawl in. Two guys that we're already in the water said we looked like new born deers hahaha. There turned out to be a whole group of them from Canada and the US and they were sitting right next to us on the beach!
We caught the bus back to the town and stopped at a restaurant for dinner. Claire got the vegetable stack and i got a leek pie which was more like a mini sausage roll. Delish but too small so after we went and got yiros' haha. We went back to our room and slept for a few hours and then got ready.
At Francesco's every night at 10.30 they put on welcome shots in the bar. So that starts off the night. Tonight they said there hadnt been this many people there in ages it was absolutely packed! The shot was really easy just vodka and lemon. It's really fun. Then around midnight the bar closes and everyone walks into town together to Blue note which is Francesco's bar.
We predrank and spent the night dancing and bar hopping with our new canadian friends which was so much fun! We went to a bar that painted your face and another where you put a helmet on and they hit you over the head (Kel had told me about this last year so of course I had to do it!).
On our way home (4ish) we got some much raved about Porky's, which we didn't think was that amazing but will give it another go!
