This morning when i was sitting in the conmon room chatting about the hilarious drunk antics of the 17yr old brittish boys the night before-sangria night- a girl came up to me and said sorry are you alice? Turns out she is good friends with Megan and works with her. So bizarre and a shame because we had been there the same time but didnt see each other until I left!
Anyway, I got the train to vermiglia (or something similar) at 1pm. The coast was STUNNING!! When I got in I went to buy tickets and they were sold out for the next train to Milan (1 1/2 hrs away) and I could only get on the one after (2 1/2 hrs away). What a joke. So I bought the ticket with every intention of getting on the first train which I did.
It was just me and one other girl in the cabin and she was so nice! Her name is Andrijana and she was born and raised in Montenegro and was so excited to hear how desperate I was to go there. She lives in Sveti Stefan which is one of the places I really want to go to. She told me all about the Balkan wars and where all the countries are at now politically and religiously. She just finished her masters in politics at Uni in Nice but she also studied for a year at omis( not sure how to spell but iv heard its really good) in the us where she met her fiancé. She was amazing and we chatted non stop for the 5 hr ride.
Unfortunately my cabin was full and even though the ticket guy made me pay another €9 I still didnt have any right to a seat in the cabins. Luckily though it was a Italian man who had my seat an absolutely refused me giving his seat to him haha. Such a gentleman.
There was an Italian lady with her two boys and an old Italian lady in there and we talked the whole trip about god knows what. It was interesting though.
Andrijana knows Serbian English German French and understands Italian so she was translating for me but it made me even more sure I want to learn a language.
When we got off the train Andrijana and I walked to my hostel dropped off my bags and caught the metro to the Duomo. By this time it was 8 oclock. We ate right in front of it which was beautiful but absolutely gross food haha. Then got pistachio ice cream that more than made up for it. We wandered through a few shops ( need to stop going into Zara every time I do I buy something and starred at the Duomo for a good hour haha it is so gorgeous. At about 10 we said out goodbyes (only for now I am going to stay with her in Montenegro some stage this year) and got on the metro.
I got off at what I thought was the wrong stop freaked out ran back down and got on the train again and went a stop further and that def wasn't it so panicked and went into the Best Western where the man took pity of my glassy eyes and helped me find my street and hostel ( I knew the name of neither).
Finally got home after making Mum wake up at 5.20 and talk to me until I was there (yes I'm a baby). Met a really cool Aussie that was going to the train station when I was- 3.30am!! We packed our bags together in the hallway, and then finally slept for 3 hours!
So what was meant to be a very boring day was made quite interesting by all the beautiful people I met!!
