This morning we were told to meet at 7am in the foyer, so i had breaky and went down. There was one other guy there and we both reassured each other we were in the right place. A few more people came in and then a guy came out of the hotels elevator and said there was a sign saying we weren't leaving until 8am! So annoying. The tour guy came and said that we were all welcome to go to level 1 and have breaky (lots of people hadn't stayed in the hotel). So we all went up and I had a second breakfast haha.
At 8 we left. We have a brand new bus called Boris which is really nice. Apparently this tour usually has a smaller mini bus but there are more people this year. There is 35ish of us and about 18 got on when I did, the others started in Istanbul 4 days earlier.
We drove for an hour or two and came to the Corinth channel which seperates greeces mainland to the ...... Peninsula. The Greeks apparently made it so the ships could pass through it but they didn't make it wide enough. Some ridiculous amount of slaves died making it so a bit of a waste haha.
Then we drove on through spartan territory and the tour guy Dax told us a few interesting stories about the Spartans. One is that at birth they were inspected and if they looked weak or if they were deformed they were left out in the wilderness, then at 7 they went to training and at 15 or something they became a Spartan's apprentice- and an apprentice whilst learning was also the Spartans lover-yes they are both male. This was meant to bond them so they fought for each other at war. At 18 they sat a test and if they passed they became a Spartan. If they failed however they were in a lower social class. Really interesting.
The scenery was super beautiful which I didn't expect and was really mountainous. We went along the coast for quite a bit of it so that was really nice.
We played a game where you make a playlist with 5 songs: intro song about your life, song that always makes you dance, guilty pleasure song, love song, funeral song. And then hook it up through the stereo and play it haha actually keeps you busy for quite a whole.
After a couple of hours the roads started to get noticeably bad. And the driving was also bad.
Around 3.30 we arrived in Parga. Fun fact the population is 13,000 but swells as few thousand during summer. It's where the Greeks holiday along the Ionian coast. Really beautiful.
We checked into our hotel which had wifi yay!! And then went to the beach which was pretty cute. A few of us swam over to a little island not too far away and explores it. Such a nice view of the town from the island.
After we got home and showered we all met up at 7 and walked up a thousand stairs to the old ruin of a fort or castle I can't remember. This had a view over the whole town and then followed it around and watched the sunset for a few hours. Everyone was drinking but my throat wasn't feeling well so I thought I would sit it out- I really don't want to be sick on sail Croatia!!
Had dinner at a little restaurant and had my last moussaka. Then we met up with the others (they were drinking on the beach) and went to a cocktail bar.
