TUESDAY 28TH NOVEMBER DAY 8
Boat trip was very cool got seats upstairs, outside at front and scenery was amazing with bright blue sky, felt like a proper holiday. Took 90 mins and got to Koh Tao, heard it was amazing, tiny with nice beaches and best over this side, not far from koh samui. (not dissing your lovely honeymoon perriss’ but selfcatering meant to be better on koh tao, however not far away (boat trip). When got off didn’t have anywhere to stay so askede English bloke if he knew anywhere and he said follow him so 7 of us got in another pick up to a tiny resort area (island only 15 miles squared). Was so hot, walked round few hotels with others, they wanted to do diving course, sounded good so roped paul in too. Everybody dives here, said t be second biggest issuer of padi certs in world, second to cairns and has some of best dive spots, despite being ting and charges 1/3 price as oz. Went and got some quotes for a package, every hotel is a dive centre, looked at some rooms, lots beach huts, some mingers but beach amazing with crystal water and paradise looking, Claire you would love love love it, well anybody but you would be in your dream world here! We went back to first place we looked at as liked bloke, English dive instructer called Alex, also looked similar too, they were all English however. Negotiated and got rooms free with 3 day dive course. Costing 140 pound each which is very cheap as we will have padi open water. Room is very basic and no beach huts left but place is AMAZING cant over empathise. It is cool with funky music playing in beach bard and bean bags everywhere, when I put photos on you will have some idea. Right on beach with lovely shallow clear water with soft sand on seabed and fish swimming round you right at shore, getting the picture? Met really cool people, couple same age from Hackney called James and Abbi, although james is from Maidstone, same age as us almost. Also bloke called Marcello from Brazil who is mad and reminds me of work Sergio and bloke called James whos from Chelternam and is our guide as has been here before, he is also going to oz for year. Got here at 0930 and hung round beach with them and started dive course at 1600, all of us except Cheltenham james as already dives. Just had videos and talk which was very boring especially on no sleep. Sunburnt slight already, good good! Had dinner with them at hotel bar, sitting uder lovely cocunut and we think papaya trees, leafs drop out, and I thought a twig had dropped on my shoulder, until it moved to my other shoulder, it was a 10 cm long ghecko, I didn’t make it welcome, don’t do spiders let alone gheckos! We then got buckets which are thai redbull, apparently quite near speed ! with thai whisky, coke and 150 which we don’t know what is but said to be lethal, comes in small bucket with loads of straws, had few to share, blokes were out of it, they are absolutely potent but not bad tasting. Went to another beach bar down beach called lotus, very good then had walk to pier to go to clubs but they were closed so locals gave us lift back(there were 7 of us though so don’t worry) we were quite drunk and had had no sleep and diving tomorrow, not good but was really!
