FRIDAY 1st DAY11 KOH TAO Had to get up early to meet at 0900 for diving, was in fool mood as the annoyance of the situation hit me. However the sun was shining and we had a dive exam, we all passed, no cheating of course!. We had some better news, the shop rang and said it would be £1000 instead of £1500. Paul went to the shop and gave them £300 deposit, one of the resort guys went with him which was nice of them. Went for our first proper dive at 13:00. Went out in the boat and went to an area called twins, it was a 12m dive, it was torture going down, my ears were killing me as the pressure grows more and more as you go down and have to pop your ears (equalize) to cope, well my ears wouldn’t pop for what seemed like forever but probably about 15 mins. It was quite good but surreal, when I got used to it, but my ears spoiled it. We then got back on boat and had to swim round it twice probably about 100m. I jumped from the top (about 8m), swimming and sea not being Paul’s favourite activity, he didn’t jump but still made it. Then had to float/tread water for 10 mins. We had to rest on the boat for an hour going and doing another dive, again my ears were troublesome but better. It was much more enjoyable this time. We then spent from 17:00 to 01:00 trying to get money from our natwest account to here. They messed up in the am by telling us incorrect info about transferring it, then said we could have an emergency transfer to our master card which I thought we were getting till 22:30, from then it was constant back and fourth phone calls and they were all useless, nobody had a clue and we were told so much contradicting info, in the end spent 2 and a half hours on the phone to natwest and they wouldn’t phone us back, it cost us £25 and lots and lots of stress. Found it unbelievable that we had money just couldn’t get it out. Our only option in the end was to transfer money in to our friend James’ account and he could use his credit card to pay The internet café was due to close at midnight and fortunately they waited for us till 0140, we then went to pay £35 of our bill to find that our mastercard still had a stop on it as they were questioning that it was us that had been using it, so only had half the money to pay and said we would pay rest in morning. Was very fed up by this point hopefully our bad luck is done as three bad luck things have happened, left MC in Hong Kong, lost camera and now quad. we didn’t get back till 0100 and had to be up at 0600 in the morning for diving. So Mam hope you had a good birthday but it was a pretty rubbish one for us!
love and miss you loads laura and paulxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
