2ND DECEMBER DAY 12 KOH TAO THAILAND
Today got up at 0600 for diving, big one today, 18m. Sun was up and nice and warm when we got up for breakie, luckily bank let us take out £70. All got on boat to Chumphon pinnacle (about 35 mins away), meant to be the areas best. To get into sea we have to take a giant step into the sea, we must look quite amusing, the gear is so heavy so it’s a relief. Paul was nervous for this one as we were told there was a big possibility of seeing whale sharks and he didn’t like being in the middle of the ocean but he was still alright, I was just worried about my ears. Our instructor G took me and Abi down first as usual holding on to a rope and slowly followed by others, thought had got away with it because nearly at bottom but started to hurt, took about 10 mins of constant trying then finally ok, had taken antihistamines then paracetamol so that helped. There were loads of cool fish, batfish, purple cool blue ringed angel fish, loads of yellow tail barracudas, rabbit fish, six band angel and unicorn fish. James took underwater camera, we couldn’t afford one in our state but he’s going to email me them so you can see. It was very cool, much better than others, didn’t see any sharks though (much to Paul’s disappointment, NOT!), 2 weeks ago they saw a 16m one, imagine! Got back on boat then swam to another place called green rock. We swam through coral tunnels and again saw lots, also saw nemo fish, got james to take picture to show George, think he got one. There was also a school of sergeant majors which were black and white stripy like toon army fish. My ears mostly behaved themselves so could relax and enjoy myself, dive was about just less than 40mins like others. Got back at 1100 and sunbathed while Paul and James paid debts. It has just drizzled a bit so I am sitting on big bean bags undercover but overlooking beach writing this, they are so comfy. It is good to have time off, waiting for Paul to hopefully come back with his passport then we can put it behind us. The sun has come back out now so going for a swim and sunbathe in the glorious 35 degree heat. Rest of the day sunbathed, am getting brown, Paul isn’t much, also mossy bites are increasing. Had our final meeting and got our temp PADI cards and filled in our log books then Abi and James went to get boat to Phi Phi, was quite sad, with Marcello we have all had a really good time, the good times way out weigh our bad time. We were a good group together and lots of laughs, James is just mad and Marcello is laid back and will do his own thing and disappear and Abi was my swimming partner, we couldn’t help swimming into each other and looked like suckers as we were constantly next to G but couldn’t help that either! Glad we did the course, Paul enjoyed it in the end but isn’t overwhelmed as yet, I thought it was cool. We went to a sports bar called choppers tonight, doesnt seem like youre in thailand when youre there though, they were showing liverpool/wigan on large screen, then went to couple of bars on beach. Lotus bar which is just next door has a man outside who spins flamed sticks, not doing very well at describing but very impressive. went to our beach bar but both of us have only had couple beers and feel tipsy we think its the diving. I feel like im on a boat but felt like it before i drank. Tomorrow we are gonna get a taxi boat to Koh Nang yuan, its an island of three which are connected by sand walkways. We are then getting the 1600 boat and then bus to Bangkok, will get there at 0500 ready for our 1100 flight to Singapore. Will have some time to kill but could always sleep! Gonna try and do some photos now, will write where they are later tho.
love and miss you loads laura and paulxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
