So I had quite a few interviews this week, weirdly, mainly with recruitment agencies who tried to recruit me rather than for the actual job that I applied for... I had two second interviews with recruitment agencies recruiting in the insurance industry. Apparently as well my Cert CII qualification doesn't mean anything over here!!! In the first of the second interviews I had to give a 5 minute presentation on a topic of my choice so I spoke about how I came to be in Australia and our travels so far. I didn't get the job but the lady said it wasn't anything I did, it was between me and another girl who had experience in recruitment so she thought it would be too much of a risk to give it me.
We had a nice skype session with Hollie and Paul too, nice to catch up with them and wish that baby Emmott would hurry up!! On Friday I had a second interview with a recruitment agency called SMF and Adam had an interview at Make It Cheaper where Aaron and Julian work. We both said we would only go out to Julians gig if one of us got a job. So we were both told that we would find out before the end of the day, Adam needed to take my phone with him to his interview so that he could use Google Maps to find where the office was so after my interview I had to try and remember the address of where Adam was and jumped in a taxi to try and intercept Adam before his interview so that I could get my phone in case Paul called from SMF, so I managed to catch him just before he went in and Paul had already rang!! So I rang Paul whilst Adam went to his interview and luckily I was offered the job to start the following Tuesday! Paul kindly invited me to meet him and the rest of the team at the pub opposite the office after work which I said I would. Adam came out of his interview and before we had got even 100 yards from the office he got a call saying he too had got the job!! We were both pleased and relieved to be earning some money. Adam decided to keep it a secret from Aaron that he was starting work there so that he could just turn up as a surprise with him at work! So after the interviews we went home and had some food and got changed then we went to the Slip Inn opposite what is going to be my office, which is apparently a famous pub in Sydney as during the Sydney Olympics their national princess went in there for a drink and met a man whom she later married and he turned out to be a prince of Denmark or somewhere like that!! They are now married with kids and they met in the Slip Inn!! So we met my new colleagues and kindly Paul was paying for all the drinks so that was nice. We had a few drinks in there and then decided to go up and watch the last of Julian's set with a guy called Danny, everyone was staying out but seen as though we didn't have much money we just got a pizza and called it a night. HUGE NEWS too today, my bestest Hollie had a gorgeous baby girl called Lily Jean Emmott! I cannot wait to see some pics.
On Saturday, I got a few more bits for work from K-Mart and we got a couple of DVD's, The Bucket List and Blues Brothers and we had a movie night in and played Monopoly!
On Sunday we went food shopping and tidied the house as Aaron and Alex are due back today, we went to the cinema in the city with Julian to watch Hit and Run which was pretty funny then I made a beef stroganoff and rice so that we could all have something to eat when Aaron and Alex got home. They got back about 10pm ish with Jayne who was coming back from Brisbane again. I think Adam felt nervous or something to see Aaron as when they were coming in the door I got up to greet them and Adam just stayed sat on the sofa like a naughty school boy... So it was really nice to see them both, we had a couple of drinks and some food then went to bed. Adam starts work in the morning and he has told Aaron that he has an interview in Kings Cross so he will walk to work with him! lol.
