The best things in life are unexpected - because there were no expectations. ~Eli Khamarov, Surviving on Planet Reebok
So today didn't get off quite to the right start... I overslept and missed my train to Avignon so I was left totally unprepared for a day in Paris... I was proud of myself because I didn't really dwell for too long or beat myself up as bad as I usually do, I just found someone to go out with and away we went to explore!
We headed to the Museum of fashion first... and were surprised to find it was closed. So that plan was thrown out as well. It seemed today was not meant for any pre-determined plans since we also tried to go to the Flea Markets only to discover they are only open, Sat. Sun, and Mon. so that didn't pan out either... So after pondering over some fabulous tarts we decided to go to Rue Mouffetard, a fabulous area of stores and vendors including fresh fruit markets, cheese stores, olive oil stores and butcher shops. It was a great area and it was nice to just kind of roll with the punches, enjoying life as it came to us. There was no time table, no plan, just walking and enjoying the day and whatever it brought.
We had ice cream from Berthillon who is one of the premier ice cream makers in France. He uses all natural things, no preservatives of any kind. It was absolutely the most delicious ice cream i have ever had! I tried the Framboise a la Rose and the Chocolat Noir (Rasberry with Rose and Dark Chocolate) and it was heaven on a cone.
While wandering the shops I found great little boutiques including a lovely store that had a perfect coat for me! I'm so happy that I finally found a jacket to take home and use! But yes, today was just fun in how laid back it was. No stress about having to get anywhere by a certain time because there was no set plan. If we saw something cool we just went inside and explored until we had seen everything we wanted to see.
It's hard to believe there is just about a week left of the trip... It's amazing how time flies. I feel like I've been away from Georgia for a long time, but that I only just arrived in Paris.
Bon Soir.
