How hard it is to escape from places. However carefully one goes they hold you - you leave little bits of yourself fluttering on the fences - like rags and shreds of your very life. ~Katherine Mansfield
Today was very yucky, rainy and cold!! The wind was killer! I ended up in a jacket and scarf and was still a little cold. The weather is certainly interesting to try to predict, even for summer. I'm very glad I packed a jacket, though I may buy myself a heavier one, or even a rain jacket, since the wind almost destroys my umbrella right away.
So tonight I had the chance to go and see Gregorian chants preformed in Notre Dame, the very church they many of these chants were written for. It was absolutely breath-taking. I have never heard the chanting live, let alone in somewhere as amazing as Notre Dame. It was absolutely one of the greatest and most beautiful things I have ever seen. The church really is beautiful and one day when I have more time I really want to go and explore the inside more. I didn't have much of a chance to do that today. But be sure to check out the videos of the chants I put up!
Tomorrow is the first day of field trips and I am going over to the Left side of the River Seine and to one of the most famous bookstores in paris, Shakespeare and Company. We'll just kind of be wandering around and exploring everywhere. But I'm looking for to it since it will be in the Latin Quarter which I have wanted to explore since we got here.
I'm finally getting the hang of classes and time, and what I can do when. I'm trying to make out a plan and figure out everything (and how to not get sunburned!!) and I totally did pack too many clothes, well maybe not too much but, I packed a lot. When I go home I might donate some of my clothes to make room for everyone's souvenirs... and speaking of those, if you want something specific you should go on and let me know!!
Well, I should head to bed...
Bon soir!!
On an interesting note, I have now been asked how old I am every time I've used my school Id..... either I look really old or really young...hm....
