Today I slept in till about 10am, which was great. Really needed after the long day yesterday.
For breakfast I had pizza that was left from last night. Also had some fruit. I don't normally have pizza for breakfast so was something different.
My host Mum, Okaasan and I decided to go to Akihabara to look at electronic dictionaries. It was one thing I really wanted to buy in Japan.
First we went to an electronic shop near their house to see what the range was like. It was pretty good, but was keen to go to Akihabara as they have the best range there usually.
When we arrived at Akihabara we had some lunch first. Okaasan was really hungry and I was becoming a bit peckish too. I had some Tempura for lunch, which is one of my favourite Japanese dishes.
After lunch we had a look around in Akihabara and was quite a good range of electronic electronic dictionaries. Okaasan said there was a big electronic shop called Bic Camera in Yurakucho, so went to have a look there.
It was just AMAZING !!! There were about 5 floors of just electronic goods. I could have bought so many things, but resisted. I looked at the electronic dictionaries and decided on a Canon Wordtank dictionary. With my level of Japanese it was probably the most comprehensive and best for what I needed. I got it at a really good price as Okaasan and is a member at Bic Camera and get points off for everthing you buy.
We then headed to Shibuya to have coffee and cake. I had a ginger cafe latte and a small cake. The cafe latte was quite different as it also had cream on the top. The ginger taste was great. I offered to pay for our coffees and cakes but Okaasan wouldn't hear of it.
Once we had charged our batteries with a coffee and cake we caught a bus to visit my host grandmother, Obaachan who was living in a nursing home. I hadn't seen her for about 10 years so wasn't sure what to expect. She remembered me and was really chuffed about that.
We got home around 6pm after visiting Obaachan.
After going home I watched a bit of Japanese tv, had dinner and had a Japanese style shower and then bath. In Japan you need to have a shower to wash yourself first and rinse off any soap. Then, you soak in a bath heated at about 42 degrees. It is a great feeling at the end of a long day, especially when have sore legs after walking around all day !!!!
