Today I left Kyoto and travelled by Shinkansen to Okayama.
Okaasan met me at Okayama station. At first I didn't recognise her as she had a completely different hairstyle and had lost a lot of weight.
First we went to an Italian restaurant for lunch. I had a pasta dish with eggplant.
After lunch we went back to Okaasan's place and dropped my bags off. The place looked a lot different from when I visited it last time. Also Okaasan has a lot more animals. She has 6 dogs and 3 cats. The dogs look like dingoes and are great watchdogs.
In the afternoon we went to a bookshop. I bought some Japanese books to read for when I came back to Australia. Then, we went to the supermarket. I bought some Japanese tea and a few other bits and pieces. I love Japanese supermarkets, they are just so interesting.
We went home after doing some shopping. I had a rest for a while as I was feeling really tired and absolutely exhausted.
For dinner we stayed at home. Otoosan gave me some Japanese rice wine to try, which was nice. It was very light and easy to drink. It was just so great to see Otoosan and Okaasan again. We also took some photos.
Okaasan is really against whaling and does a lot of volunteer work at an animal shelter, similar to the RSPCA. She is also a bit of an environmentalist. Sometimes to the point that it's a bit crazy. I was soooo cold in the house that I had to put on about 3 or 4 layers of clothing.
It was great to have a day and so good not to be running around doing lots of sightseeing. My legs really needed it.
