Hey!
So since the last blog we've added on some major mileage to car. On Friday we travelled along the coast and did a quick tour of all the famous southern beaches; Laguna, Newport (from the OC), Huntington and Long beach. Surfers galore! Then Saturday was spent at the second Disney park, California Adventure where we got completely soaked on a raft ride-would have been more fun had we done it earlier in the day when it was warmer&would have dried after! whoops! We stayed late for the famous Fantasmic water fountain and laser show followed by fireworks. Unfortunately we missed the filming the next day for the Disney Christmas Day show on ABC network around the castle shown every Christmas Day. Also my favourite "It's a small world" ride (I know I'm sad) was closed for getting decorated in all the Christmas lights and decorations :-(
We left Anaheim on Sunday morning and made our way to Palm Springs-city famous for its night life and golf in the centre of the desert! From the photos you can see the aerial tramway ride we took which went from 2000 feet to 8600 feet in cable cars that could fit 80 people and only had 5 poles holding it up!!! Major scary biscuits! But to make matters worse the floor of the cars rotated while you were going up!! The views at the top were amazing-on one side it was complete desert and a massive drop to Palm Springs and on the other side there was a forest. The temperature fell by 40oF in a matter of a couple minutes.
From Palm Springs we headed to San Diego-out of all the cities I've been to in the USA this is definitely the prettiest. It is clean, quirky and has perfect weather. We drove in along the coast and had dinner in the newest part of the city, the Gaslamp Quarter. On Tuesday we got the hope-on-hope-off Trolley around the city. You can see from the photos we took a tour of the USS Midway which is a retired Navy aircraft carrier they was used during the second world war and active up until 2002. There was constant overhead Navy helicopters and aircraft as San Diego has the biggest training base in the USA. The trolley also took us over to the island Coronado where the very wealthy live and one of the prettiest beaches I've seen. That night we went around the 'Seaport Village' with lots of quirky vintage shops and seafood restaurants. Unfortunately my taste buds have never liked fish so I didn't get to enjoy the massive choice although Ryan got to try his first oysters.
Today was spent driving 358 miles to Phoenix and as we were driving so close to the Mexican border we got stopped a few times by the border police checking we weren't illegal immigrants! So tomorrow we are heading to the Grand Canyon! Enjoy the photos!

deborah Hey ! I came across your blog by doing a google search on San Diego (btw, I just luv it! :p) I’m in SD right now and seriously, this town is sick!! It’s like you’re in paradise here: sun, beach, parties.. The good life to sum it up! Plus, I’m really lucky cause I live in an apartment complex where there’s a swimming-pool, a jacuzzi and a fitness center! To be honest, I first thought it was gonna be like impossible to live in such a complex cause I was like “ it’s gonna be too expensive, bla bla bla …“ But actually, even if you’re on a low budget, there still is a possiblilty to live in such a place ! Awesome, isn’t it ? :D If you’re interested, you can check out the website www.sandiego-studenthousing.com. I found it on the Internet and seriously, it’s really worth a peek ! I hope it’s gonna be the same for you if you come to SD (and if it’s okay with you, we can also stay in touch to share our experiences). If you want to contact me, it’s dead easy : just search for Deborah on “San Diego Student Housing” fan page on Facebook ;o) bye !! xx
