Hey again! (Theres 2 photo albums to go with this blog)
Well in the past week we travelled down the Pacific Coast Highway back to LA. We stopped at Monterey and Carmel-by-the-sea on the first night which was actually thanksgiving so we managed to get a thanksgiving meal at a restaurant on the pier. Monterey has a private area which is called 17-mile-drive and has 3 famous golf courses as you can see in the photos. We also stopped in Santa Barbara for a night but it was freezing so didn't get to do much. The day after Thanksgiving here is known as Black Friday and is famous for sales (most shops open at 3am!) so I managed to get myself a nice Canon digital SLR for about £250 less-great quality photos as you can see& it takes HD movies! So will get some amazing Safari pics in Africa.
We arrived in Hollywood on Saturday night and spent Sunday in Universal Studios and at a massive Christmas Parade on Hollywood Boulevard. Got to see around the outdoor set of Wisteria Lane (Desperate Housewives-for all you non-fans!) as you can see from photos.
About a month ago I applied for tickets to see 'The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien' live and we were lucky enough to get picked for tickets on Monday. Security was so tight as it was at the Universal sets and they were filming Desperate Housewives and the Ghost Whisperer on the next 2 stages! We got to see William Shatner (Star Trek) and AnnaLynne McCord (Nip Tuck/90210) and also a performance from Mary Poppins the Musical. We then headed to Hollywood Boulevard and did the Walk of Fame down all the stars on the road with the actors/actresses/musicians etc names in them. Also saw the Chinese Theatre, with the very famous stars hands&feet in the cement, where many movie premiere are shown. The Kodak Theatre is also here where they have the Oscars ceremony.
Tuesday was spent at Universal Studios and Universal City all day. We went to see Disney's 'A Christmas Carol' 3D in the big Universal Cinemas at night. On Wednesday we did a bit of sightseeing around Santa Monica Beach and Venice Beach followed by some shopping!!! Have already sent home 10kg of stuff-hope I won't have to send anymore to avoid ridiculous airline charges! Today we went to Beverly Hills and Bel Air - all very like the movies with palm tree lined streets & plush shops! We returned the car to Hertz and are now preparing for our adventure to the east coast as we leave for Boston tomorrow.
Hope you're all well!
