Hey again!
Well we've just left San Francisco after 4 nights (plus an overnight stay at Sacramento). We arrived late afternoon on Sunday after going to an American Football game in Oakland (Oakland Raiders vs Cincinnati Bengals) on the way. Unfortunately we mentioned to somehow get a flat battery while we at the game and after an hour of trying to sort things with Hertz a random mechanic van drove past. Turns out the American Football team pay to have a mechanic drive around after the game and help out anyone who needs them! How cool but I suppose the parking was $25!!! So after the massive toll queue to get over the Bay Bridge into San Francisco we finally arrived.
On Monday we went to Alcatraz Island which was actually excellent-I was surprised-thought it would be a guys thing but audio tour was really interesting. As you can see from the photos it meant we got superb views of San Francisco skyline and the Golden Gate Bridge. We strolled around the Fishermans Wharf with all the quirky wee shops and loud, seriously smelly sea lions! I wish I liked fish as this seems to be the place to go for fresh and a large variety of fish dishs. They were cooking crabs along the roadside in boiling water.
Tuesday we spent on the hop on-hop off bus around the city getting to see around Chinatown, Golden Gate Bridge, Golden Gate Park, Union Square and the so-called painted ladies (the different candy coloured victorian houses). I have to say San Francisco and San Diego are definitely the prettiest cities we have been in. I seem to have alot more houses and open space rather than apartments.
Wednesday I did a bit of Christmas Shopping around Union Square as some shops had started their Thanksgiving sales early. Thanksgiving is huge here-everywhere is shut down today-we struggled to get somewhere to eat and to get petrol! Its basically as second Christmas. Most of the sales are starting at 3am on Friday and apparently people queue for hours.
Anyway on our way down the coast back towards LA and hopefully will get to Hollywood on Saturday night.
Enjoy pics,
Love Kimberly xo
