The great Italian voyage continues…
I am now in Bucine, I have been in Florence, Pistoia, Rimini, and Montevachi in the last couple of days. Florence, was nice I saw David, and it was really impressive. With all the major city jumping I have been doing and couchsurfing for only 1 or 2 nights through those cities I was very much ready for a change of pace, something slower and more relaxing… I found it in Bucine. My host Gavino and his family live on a farm in the Tuscany region and have pigs, chickens, turkey's, and donkey's. They are an excellent family and I am really getting a chance to relax and stop being a tourist for a couple of days. I made them some country style omelets last night and Gavino's mom and I made bread, its was a good evening.
I will continue my surfing away from the big cities for a while. Because finding hosts in major cities in Italy is very difficult and I could use a break from them. I will be staying the next two weeks in the Tuscany region, but in the rural parts. I have hosts for 3 and 4 nights something that has been very hard to find in Italy, but was the norm in the rest of Europe. I think staying in the countryside is going to be the best way to see the rest of Italy. I will see Rome near the end of the next 2 weeks. Then its off to help with the olive harvest on Nov. 16th : )
Ciao
Kevin
