So, there I was exiting the train in Rome with toga on, olive branches for peace offerings, and some gold coins for tribunes. Wow, was I surprised Rome is nothing like I thought it would be. It was my understanding that Romans really where tied to their history… guess not.
I have been in Rome for three days now and arrived at the olive farm today. The past week I was in Laviano and had an excellent time with CS host Riccardo. I had my first crack at playing football over here…ahah it was hilarious we went to play with his team which is part of the "lovers league" meaning its for people who just like to play the game, like beer league softball. So, there I was at practice with these guys whom age ranges 20-42yrs and act like kids during practice. It was hilarious some were serious, some were just goofing around, but they all were having fun. I had a lot of fun playing the scrimmage at the end I played some solid "D" none of them scored on me!
I saw what will be one of the most amazing things on my Italy trip and that's the coliseum, it did not disappoint. I sat in there for hours and took tons of pics. The history of this building along with the design and size really is impressive. I also got a taste of the Rome nightlife with my host Manuel, there are some crazy places around here.
One thing I will never get tired of is Italian mamma or nanna cooking. I have had several of them as hosts throughout Italy and they truly are the nicest and best cooks around. SO HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL THE MAMMA'S and NANNA's. Tus bellissimo!
Grazie, Ciao
Kevin

Marco2 Ciao Kevin Glad, you liked Rome; another italian town ;-) An important message to all future hosts. Treat him well. He is not only an excellent "olive picker" (we try to engage him for next year), he also knows how to make handmade pasta!!!! Have a good time Saluti da Bucine
