Hello from the UK!
Yesterday the Nebraska group traveled by coach to London! We left around 9 am and the buses dropped us off at Trafalgar Square (the "blog" picture) in London. Corey, Joni, Derek and I were previously at Trafalgar Square for the Opening Ceremonies of the Tour de France a couple weeks ago!
Anyways, we jumped off the buses and had about 5 hours to do whatever we wanted in London. A group of about 10 of us walked down towards the Thymes River and visited Big Ben, Parliament, and the London Eye. We jumped on the metro and went farther down the river to Tower Bridge, Tower of London, and London Bridge. Lots of sightseeing! After a long metro trip back to the Trafalgar Square area, we walked to Cambridge Theatre...where we watched the musical, "Chicago". The performance was great! I have never seen the musical or movie at all, so this was fun!
After the performance a group of us went to a Mexican Restaurant in London. We had pitchers of margaritas (not as good as the ones in Cabo!), nachos, quesadillas, and fajitas. Soooo good.
The buses didn't leave London until 9 pm, so we had a little time to shop. Didn't buy anything (shocking, I know) and we made it back to the buses safely. 3 Nebraska guys didn't make it back to the bus though...they got lost and had to find their own transportation back to Oxford. They made it back late last night after an expensive bus ticket.
We were entertained on the way home by Ryan Blumkin! He had to pee sooo bad (maybe from a few beers) so we gave him a some water bottles...we even opened up an umbrella around him so that he had a little privacy (he was getting stage fright!). He felt much better after that!
Last night Corey shaved Ryan Rosenow and Justin Plucknutt's heads! They look so European now! Corey gave the boys their haircuts in Joni and my room...so our floor is a little hairy now. Hopefully the "maid" will get that cleaned up! After the haircuts we watched a movie on Joni's laptop. Most of us fell asleep during that...off to bed!
This morning we finally got to sleep in! Joni, Morgan and I went to a poster shop in Oxford this morning and bought the "Oxford Pub Crawl" poster. The poster has about 30 different pubs on it and it is our goal to make it to each one! As you go to each pub you have to color it in on the poster. We have 20 more days here, but we will be gone for 4 nights in Dublin, and we probably won't go out 3 nights during our exams, so we have about 13 nights to accomplish this! So far I have been to 3 on the poster, better kick it up!
After lunch Morgan, Ryan and I went to The Simpson's Movie in Oxford. When you buy your ticket they ask you if you want to upgrade to the "premier" seats for an extra pound (or First Class, like Morgan and I called it)...so we upgraded! You even get assigned a seat number here! The concessions is kinda like a gas station...self service. You have a choice between sweet or salty popcorn (I couldn't decide so I got half and half)...but they don't serve melted butter like in the States...so at least we saved a few calories there. The movie was good!
This afternoon Morgan, Joni and I are going to give pedicures to ourselves. Joni bought some munchies and magazines for our room. We are planning on going to a few different pubs tonight so that we can stay on track to finish the poster! Just one beer in each pub!
Tomorrow we are back to the breakfast, class, lunch, dinner schedule. Some students in the Nebraska party are trying to organize a toga party for tomorrow night...should be fun!
What is new back home? Good weather? I want to hear from you guys!
Home in 20 days! Miss you, love you, bye!
