Kate's Chronicles
I have to say that this seems like a VERY long winter to me.....supposedly the first day of spring today but it was still freezing cold. i live in hope to see sunshine soon and some temperatures that have double figures!!
Back into the swing with the new semester and all is going well so far. My second year students are starting to get into "real" nursing subjects and feel that they are finally learning what they thought they should be!! It is great to see them so enthusiastic for knowledge and makes teaching a pleasure. My third year students have hit the hospitals for their intership and its been a real culture shock after the protected environment of the University. Welcome to the real world I've said to a few but a couple I've had to help with understanding.....especially as they learn that not all patients are nice people!! The SP Program is going very well and apparently I made the local newspaper (in Chinese) so I'm now a star with some of my students. My postgraduate students have decided that I am a "hard" teacher as this semester they have to put in more effort and actually give presentations in English instead of sitting back listening to me!!
Have managed to get out a little bit but really its too cold to say it is enjoyable walking around the parks. Am looking forward to the warmer weather so I can do more exploring in comfort. Always good to get out and enjoy dinner with friends and have managed to fit in a few of those around my teaching commitments and my Chinese lessons.
All in all life is pretty good at the moment. Bye for now. xx
