Today was our free Sunday so we all decided to go on a hike, meeting at Michaels place at 10.30am after eating omelette and putting on the walking boots. Violet kindly packed us a lunch. We climbed up the hills from the village as the morning grew hotter, stopping along the way to take pictures of flora and fauna. A cuckoo settled for a long time in a tree near us so we could take some photographs. At the top of the forested peak we ate lunch which was battered cauliflour with salt, rolls and apples. It was very welcome. Then we carried on seeing numerous butterflies and an amazing bright green and blue lizard sitting on a cluster of rocks.

We descended the hill which was very steep, passing a ski lift as we went. We returned to the village at about 3.30 and were home by 4. We gathered at Simon's place, sat in the orchard and played with the cat, Simone.

That evening we had a great meal of breaded mushrooms, potatoes and sour kraut. We also had some delicious cherry juice and watched all the cows and goats come home. There were two very humorous goats that always dawdled at the back and bleeted to each other!
