Today we had soft cheese and bread for breakfast. After showering Stef and I went to meet Paul at the bar. Webegan another day of bird watching and later met up with Laszlo as he's been giving another primary school talk.
We approached a very impressive crater type landscape, naturally made cliffs overlooking lakes and reeds and chunks of rock. Here we saw the beautiful bee eaters. They live in colonies in the cliff face. They are stunning birds with a multitude of colours, flying playfully and catching...bees!
We later travelled to the river bank, that as we walked along all the toads jumped back in. Some tiny splashes, some big splashes. We could see them up close this time and they had one bright green line down their spine and a bright orange line either side of this. We also saw the yellow bellied frog.
After more track trekking we stopped for a picnic under some shady trees and then back to the lakes where we sat and observed more wildlife. A yellow wagtail posed for us quite a long time.
Laszlo drove each of us back to our families and we each had showers which was a relief after a hot and dusty day. To eat that night we had delicious pork schnitzel and homemade mushroom rice, started with tasty egg soup.
This evning we had a go at milking the cows. When the cow came home tonight the dog was playing with her and she was playing along too it was very sweet. We sat on a little milking stool next to the udder and had a go at squeezing the milk into a bucket. It was a strange sensation and we found that to get a good flow you really had to roll your fingers along the teet and squeeze hard. This is where I first went wrong because I didn't want to hurt her but then I realised how strong a calf would suck! We tried some fresh milk afterwards. It was nice and fresh and still warm.
