Varkala is lovely, it is mainly white people here on the beach but it isn't crowded at all. It's nice to be on a resort where we can get everything we need from shops (like shampoo and chocolate!) and to be around lots of different people who are on holidays and back packing. We were with the boys until today and Roxy left the day before. Then it'll be Claire and I on our own for the first time! Scary and exciting :)
We hired out mopeds the other day and got to see some little towns which was nice, we stumbled upon a lighthouse which we were allowed to walk to the top of- the most incredible views i have ever seen. This country is truely breath taking. We also found another deserted beach but there were Indian men bringing in this huge net with the fish they had caught, i enjoyed watching them do this. We are staying in beach huts again which we've come to love. And only 200 rupees each per night which is less than 4 pounds each. Most days are beach days, me and Claire got taught how to body board in the big waves, she was more successful than me as almost every time i tried i just got sucked under the wave and thrown about like i was ina washing machine! battered and bruised by the sea!
Valentines day was full of fun and we joined in on the quiz night in the Rock 'n' Roll Cafe and met some more people and discovered a new favorite cocktail that we love- Max Magic, vodka based of course! So we had a dance and a laugh. Everything is so chilled out.
The restaurants here are brilliant, each one has freshly caught fish out on display along the cliff top. There is always HUGE Tuna's and also, My Daddy's favorite, massive Marlin. You can't get Marlin in England anymore so of course i had to oblige. A seriously huge piece of Marlin steak was served in a gorgeous garlic butter sauce, chips and salad all for about 3 pounds!! Literally the best meal so far. I thought of you dad! We later went to a couple bars and ended up on the beach with a beer, not a bad way to spend the night!
The boys were meant to be leaving the next day but couldn't do it lol. So it was followed by another day on the beach and they joined in with the Volleyball game which seems to happen every day on the beach, they say anyone can join in but it gets very competitive and im not sure im prepared to put myself through that!
So the guys have now left and within 15 minutes of them going i got an electric shock from an apparently dodgy laptop in an internet cafe... f***ing horrible actually. think my scream scared Claire quite a bit! My hand has stopped shaking and now just have some kind of blister on my finger... of all the dangers in India lol.
We are stopping in Varkala until next Wed, we have a day trip planned in the mean time and our tans are finally starting to appear.
Missing my family and friends at home, thinking of you always xxxxxx
