We arrived in Bangkok! After 2 days of travelling back up to Delhi in north India we finally arrived! And met Sarah, Claire's flat mate from Sheffield, at Delhi airport where we then flew together to Thailand. Once we got here, checked into our lovely Viengtai hotel equipped with air con, soft beds, swimming pool, complimentary water, slippers and towels - aren't we good backpackers?!?! We then met up with Ben, who we met in Varkala, India, and he had a stop over in Bangkok on his way back to Australia. So after having our first dinner of Phad Thai (yummy!) we partied on the infamous Khoa San Road until the small hours. Also managed to find myself a Sang Som Bucket- basically a beach sand castle bucket filled with Sang Som (their whisky), coke, red bull and something else... had to be done! We also had fun people watching on the strip and trying to pick out the Thai girls from the Ladyboys, it can be tricky!! I almost got persuaded by Claire and Ben to buy and eat one of the insects cooked on a stick... not quite got there yet. We followed our first night by a lazy hungover day by the pool, even though it was shaded.
Another of our 3 nights was spent in China Town where we ate some really good street food. Following that we headed back to Khoa San Rd for some more drinks and sorry to say this Mum and Dad... a long visit to a tattoo shop to DISCUSS my much wanted tattoo... Dont panic, it hasn't happened... yet...
We then met a group of crazy Brazilian guys wh play football in Bangkok and live there (not really sure how that works) they were funny, only 2 could speak english but watching them dance was entertainment enough, we called one Happy Feet haha.
We also visited the Floating Market early in the morning, an amazing thing to see. Basically lots of Thai people going up and down these rivers, a bit like Venice, selling fresh fruit and veg and tourist souveniers. We got taken on a couple of canoes, there was one point where there was a traffic jam of canoes and i'm sure mine and Sarah's screams were slightly unnecessary whenever the boat tipped a little bit... it was intense though! Claire sat up front like the leader of the canoe pack and looked very important from our squashed seats behind!
Bangkok has been a very hectic city, 3 days was the perfect time to experiene it all, now excited to see what else is on offer.
Lots of love xxxx
