We visited Phuket because we had to spend a night back on the mainland before heading down to Malaysia. It's ok here but there are so many better places to see in Thailand. The night life is clearlya big deal here but we didn't really take part in it, flourescent lights filling the streets, ladyboys dancing on poles, many thai girls flirting with old western men, drunk people everywehre- it was a bit 'too much' and didn't really compare with places we've been to before. But the beach was lovely and the people are very friendly. Glad we did it but also glad it was just for 2 nights!
