Ranakpur was such a different place to be! It wa sout in the country side in the middle of nowhere. After all the crazy traffic and people hassling you to buy things it was such a privelage to be in a quiet, almost silent part of the country. We wer even warned about Leopards!! The place we stayed had incredible views and we stayed in individual marble buildings, i've literally never stood on a colder floor in my life.
We went to visit a temple for the Jain religion, they basically belief in peace and no conflict. They don't eat anything produced by animals- no meat, dairy etc and they don't eat vegetables that are grown in the ground like potatoes etc. The temple was huge and the whole thing was hand carved with incredible detail and itnricate designs made compeltely from marble. They worship this huge statue in the middle but we weren't allowed to take photos of it. I also noticed the sign on the way in to visitors explaining what is not permitted inside the temple- including women on their menstrual period! Luckily all our girls were fine to go in so no one missed out! haha.
Later that night the whole group sat around a bonfire and we had a table of alcohol to keep us going, it was FREEZING. We all st around with about 5 layers of clothing and waiting for that trusty alcohol blanket to kick in. It was great for everyone to just relax and have a laugh (and a drink!), by the end of the night me Claire and a couple of the other girls were singing along to the Spice Girls... you can take the girl out of England...
We evn all got up and danced to Indian music with Ruby out guide and the hotel staff joined in too!
